The Route

David and Gillian go on a cycling adventure to see some of Saskatoon's most impressive and unique trees.

Of course this distance does not include the ride to the first tree, nor the ride home from the last tree.

Trees 1 - 4

 1. Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) - 751 Whitewood Court

The Sugar Maple is Canada's national tree which lends its leaf to our stylish flag. 

2. Ohio Buckeye (Aesculus glabra) - 1306 Cascade Street

Beware do not eat the fruit of this tree. It is poisonous to humans, but highly prized by squirrels. 

3. Siberian Fir (Abies sibirica) - 2628 Munroe Avenue

This super hardy tree can withstand -50 C and is an excellent at dying when exposed to high atmospheric pollution. 

4. Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) - 819 Wilson Crescent

These trees are known to grow for 130 years or more. This one is thought to be the largest in Saskatoon. I wonder how old it is?
